Recently the U.S. Patent Office has been the source of several General Motors future product leaks. The government agency has been notorious as of late for publishing design patents on new GM products and it appears as if they have struck again. Yesterday GM was issued a design patent on what appears to be a new Chevrolet small truck…..

if it’s a Colorado listen here… we got information from vender say about  new codename GMI 700 or Colorado replacement that as current car share most of design and engineering from Isuzu Dmax but after GM sold Isuzu’s share the new car will be done heavily by Chevrolet team that based in Brasil.

The small pickup trucks clearly are on the verge of disappearing from US auto market, especially considering the fact that not many major entries have been made in this segment (Suzuki Equator was the last imposing entry we remember). If you look around US truck market, you will find that maximum part of the market has been dominated by full size pickups, and not many of the buyers are keen on buying a small pickup truck. This is why when we came to know about the Ford Ranger prototypes being tested abroad we were sure that they are not slated for US market. Especially because in outer markets small trucks do well, but the conditions is totally vice versa here in States.

Yes, we are sure you would have asked this question after going through above stanza. So, here is the big news, our auto spies have reported spotting not only the (supposed) replacements of Ford Ranger, but also of a small GM pickup. The GM pickup is expected of being the stand-ins for the GMC Canyon twins and Chevrolet Colorado. Our auto spies also reported that, both the replacements that they saw were comparatively bigger than the top-dog Silverado and F-150.

The front fascia of the sketches appears to be a a very close match for the current Chevrolet Equinox crossover, adding credibility to the images being of a near-future model. The patent for the images listed several names from South America, as well as two in Detroit, Michigan, according to GM InsideNews, which first found the images.

Given that GM has given indications that future small truck development would come from south of the equator, it makes sense that the majority of those involved in designing this truck would be from Brazil. Where things become unclear, however, is what truck this is exactly, and for which markets?
